Stucco Remediation in Central Florida
Stucco remediation is the larger cousin of a patch repair: instead of fixing an isolated spot, it removes failing stucco across an area, corrects the moisture problems underneath, and rebuilds the wall system so the same failure is far less likely to return. When a wall has repeated cracks, spreading water damage, or patches that never hold, remediation solves the cause rather than chasing symptoms. Anicette Stucco has handled repair-versus-replace decisions across Central Florida for more than 15 years. We are insured and every estimate is free.

Scope of work
Repair or replace: how to tell
The honest answer depends on why the wall is failing and how far it has gone.
Pick how far the damage has gone
We tell you which situation you are in, and why, so you are not sold a full rebuild you do not need or a patch that will not last.
Our call
A repair is enough
A repair is enough when the wall behind the finish is sound and the damage is limited: a few cracks, a hole, or a stained area with a single fixable source. That is standard stucco repair.

Our call
Remediation makes sense
Remediation makes sense when the problem is systemic: moisture has spread behind the stucco, large areas have delaminated, or the wall has been patched again and again without lasting. At that point, repeatedly repairing costs more over time than removing and rebuilding the affected assembly once.

What stucco remediation involves
Step 01 of 05
Assessment.
We work out what is likely going on behind the finish rather than reading the surface alone, and we are straight about what can only be confirmed by opening the wall.
Where this sits in the wall
- Concrete block
- Weather barrier
- Metal lath
- Base coat
- Finish + texture
The cause is usually behind the finish, in the block or the barrier - not in the crack you can see.
What remediation does that a patch cannot
The difference between remediation and one more patch is that remediation removes the failure and its cause together.
One more patch
Because Central Florida's humidity and rain keep pressure on every wall, one more patch is just another layer over a hidden problem.
Remediation
A rebuild that restores the moisture barrier gives the wall a fresh, sound system. That is why it tends to hold where repeated patching does not.
Signs your wall needs remediation rather than repair
- The same area has been repaired more than once and keeps failing.
- Damage is spreading rather than staying contained.
- Large sections sound hollow or have lost their bond to the wall.
- Moisture is present across an area, not just at a single point. Where readings are needed to establish that, we will say so - a specialist moisture survey is a separate service and we will tell you if your wall warrants one.
- Patches have been layered on patches, so there is no sound original surface left to work with.
The economics of doing it once
Remediation is the more expensive quote on the day and frequently the cheaper decision over five years.
- Repeated patching
- Remediation, done once
Repeated patching has a real cost: each repair is paid for, each one fails, and in between failures the moisture behind the wall keeps working.
At some point the accumulated spend on repairs that did not hold exceeds the cost of removing the failure and rebuilding the assembly properly.
Our job at the estimate is to tell you honestly which side of that line your wall is on, including when the answer is that a repair will do fine.
Where remediation stops
When remediation is not the answer either
Remediation is the right call when moisture has beaten a wall. It is the wrong call, and an expensive one, when the wall is moving rather than wet.
A crack that keeps reopening, and also
- Widens over time.
- Steps through the block courses.
- Is mirrored on the interior.
- Accompanied by doors and windows that have stopped closing.
Rebuilding the stucco will not hold either. That is a structural engineer's question and it comes first.
We will tell you if we think that is what you are dealing with, and we will not sell you a remediation to cover it.
You will know the scope and a price. We will also tell you upfront where opening the wall could change the number, because on a remediation that is a real possibility rather than a disclaimer.
No. Small, early water damage is a repair. Remediation is for damage that has spread or recurred.
On most walls, yes. A remediated section is rebuilt in proper coats and then textured to the surrounding wall. On a large area, repainting the elevation afterwards is often the cleanest route to a uniform result.
When patches keep failing, yes, because rebuilding once usually costs less over time than repairing the same wall repeatedly.
Yes, and on a remediation it matters more than usual, because the scope is larger. We would rather spend the time getting it right than hand you a figure that changes.
Longer than a repair, because the wall is opened, dried, corrected and rebuilt in stages that cannot be rushed. We give you a realistic schedule at the estimate rather than an optimistic one.
The affected area has to be opened, and it is protected while the work is under way. We stage the job around the weather and discuss the sequence with you before we start, so you know what will be open and when.
Strip it, correct it, rebuild it
What actually happens when a wall is remediated
Remediation is not a bigger patch. It is the removal of a failed system and the rebuilding of it.
- Stage 01Strip back to sound structureWe strip the stucco off the affected area back to sound structure.
- Stage 02Expose what is behind itWe expose what is behind it.
- Stage 03Correct the moisture problemsWe correct the moisture problems that are there.
- Stage 04Restore the barrierWe restore or replace the barrier that should have been keeping water out.
- Stage 05Rebuild and matchWe rebuild the stucco in proper coats and texture-match it to the rest of the house.
It takes longer, it costs more, and it is disruptive. It is also what a genuinely failed wall usually needs, which is why we are careful to recommend it only when it is warranted.
